Which batteries work with SmartBMS Utility, which do not, and what we learned about them along the way.

    Eco-Worthy support told us in August 2026 that their batteries only work with their own app. Individual users have reported ours working with older units, so the BMS appears to differ between models. We would not rely on it.

    Depends on the model. Some Forster batteries use JBD and work, others use a different BMS our app cannot talk to.

    We analysed the CreaBest app in August 2026. The batteries use their own protocol on their own Bluetooth services, which is neither Daly nor JBD nor JK. Our app cannot read them today.

  • Ective

    BMS: Own design

    Two independent reverse engineering projects show Ective speaking its own protocol rather than Daly, JBD or JK. Ective devices can still appear in the device list because they use a common Bluetooth module, but they will not answer. Note that the AccuBOX S200 contains a shunt rather than a Bluetooth BMS.

  • Super B

    BMS: Own design

    The Epsilon does not advertise a service UUID at all, only manufacturer data. It therefore cannot appear in the normal search screen, and its protocol is its own. Based on a device report in an independent Home Assistant BLE project, not on our own test.

Good to know

Why batteries appear in the list but show no data

SmartBMS Utility finds devices by their Bluetooth service ID, not by name. The IDs used by Daly, JBD and JK are factory defaults on many cheap Bluetooth modules, so a battery with an entirely different BMS can still show up. The app then asks in a language that device does not speak, and no values arrive. That is a name collision on the transport layer, not a fault in the battery or the app.

The unfiltered search shows everything

The magnifier icon switches to an unfiltered search that lists every Bluetooth device nearby. It is useful when a battery does not appear otherwise, but a device showing up there says nothing about whether it is compatible.

If the manufacturer points you to the elephant app

The app with the elephant logo is Xiaoxiang, which talks to JBD boards. If your battery works with it, it works with SmartBMS Utility too.
